License Information!

A valid New York Fishing License is Mandatory for Everyone Over 16 years of Age! You can get a NY Fishing License online, or by calling 1-866-933-2257. In addition to any Walmart, K-mart, or Town Hall in NY. There is also 24 hour Walmart in Fredonia (map) and another one in Niagara Falls (map).

That is to say when fishing in the Niagara River for Salmon, Trout & Steelhead, I highly recommend getting a Canadian (Ontario) fishing license in addition to your NY fishing license. For example, It opens up a lot more area to fish and on some days it is much better over on the Canadian side of the river. In short, You don’t want to watch them pounding them on the Canadian side and not be able to go catch them too!
You can get a Canadian Fishing Licenses online, or by calling 1-800-667-1940 (usually takes 3-4 weeks)
Note: Most importantly, Bring your Passport, Enhanced Drivers License or a Nexis Card if you want to fish Canadian Waters as it’s currently required!

What to Bring!

Certainly bring: a camera, polarized sunglasses to fight glare, sunscreena hat, dress in layers for the predicted weather. But, remember that it is slightly cooler on the water and you can always take a layer off. Above all, it’s a good idea to have Rain Gear as you never know when a shower will pop up! Further, a small cooler with drinks and snacks for the day is a good idea. Likewise, maybe another larger cooler for your catch for the way home too. Meanwhile, if Motion sickness medication if needed, it should be taken the night before or hours before you get on the boat to be effective!

In conclusion, If you have a favorite, or lucky rod & reel bring it along too, although I supply all needed tackle. However, please let me know if you’re bringing more than a couple! Consequently, so I can take a few off the boat to make room as I usually have between 18-25 rods on-board most of the time.
